Chup Chup Ke is a 2003 Indian Hindi comedy-drama film directed by Priyadarshan. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in lead roles. The movie revolves around four individuals, who are all neighbours living on the same floor of a building. One of the neighbours has just returned from abroad with his American fiancée and is being reluctantly welcomed by the other three neighbours, who are not very happy about their new neighbour's affluent ways. The three friends are Sudesh (Paresh Rawal), Sumitra Devi (Bindu) and Shankar Lalwani (Amitabh Bachchan). The first day that the friend returns, he is separated from his fiancée by his previous female neighbour, who is not happy about his pre-wedding actions to her. The story then focuses on the love triangle between Sumitra Devi, Shankar Lalwani and Sudesh. Sumitra Devi is a middle-aged lady who lives with her niece Shailu (Rani Mukerji) and nephew Munna (Akshay Kumar). She gets married to Shankar Lalwani after marriage proposal at the age of 16 to get her independence. Their marriage is based on lust and passion but soon becomes a misery for them both. After many years of marriage, Sumitra Devi's long-time friend, Sudesh enters her life and she starts to slowly fall in love with him. Sumitra Devi and Shankar Lalwani have a very difficult relationship because he always blames her for making such a big mistake in marrying him when she was just 16 years old. It is obvious that Sumitra Devi has no love towards her husband when he walks into their apartment drunk one night and insults his wife in front of Sudesh and Munna. She gave him a divorce easily because she was fed up with her husband's drunken behavior. Sumitra Devi, Sudesh and Shankar Lalwani share an apartment for many years. The trio constantly quarrel with each other on the smallest of issues. Sudesh is constantly annoyed with Sumitra Devi's behavior towards him and constantly fights with her. Eventually the three couples decide to separate because they are so tired of constantly fighting with each other on small matters. The film was based on a story by Anjum Rajabali; "Chup Chup Ke" is the second of Rajabali's films to be adapted into a Hindi film following "Bewafaa". The movie was shot in Mumbai and the film's climax scene was shot in a busy market in Mumbai. The music of the film was composed by A. R. Rahman with Rajiv Menon composing the lyrics. Though this is a romantic-comedy, A. R. Rahman included a classical touch to it which gives all instruments a fresh feel and makes each song memorable. The songs are "Aaja Tanha Hai" sung by Kailash Kher and "Chup Chup Ke" sung by Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal, both songs became popular hits from the film gave it a huge opening at the box office. 90cfa1e7782026
